It all started with a journal...

Hi

I'm a twenty-some with a love for words. Whether we realize

it or not, we've all experienced the power of words. Maybe

you received an intentional birthday card that made you feel known, or maybe you received a comment that made you doubt your abilities or who you are. Or maybe you heard someone's story that inspired you to try something new. Whatever it was, words hold power. They can build trust just as easily as they can break it.

Alright, enough about the superpower of words. I think you understand my passion for them. As a tried and true introvert, I've found that while I can be quiet in person, I can be loud on paper. Writing has helped me find my voice, and I want to use my God-given gift and passion for writing to help others be heard, too.

I recently graduated with an MFA in Creative Writing , and I'm a full-time copywriter for a Christian book publishing organization. I've written newsletter stories, book summaries, and a blog published by Proverbs 31 Ministries. I love finding creative ways to communicate inspiring stories and messages, and I hope to continue doing this in a variety of ways for the rest of my career. I also just recently finished writing a book.

Yet, it all started with a journal (that I consistently use today). My mom bought me my first journal when I was seven years old. It had my favorite cartoon character on it (the little French girl, Madeline, who was saved by a dog and bunked with eleven other girls in an old house in Paris), and I used it to write "letters" to Madeline about my daily activities and thoughts. My mom's intention was to help her quiet, little girl express the thoughts and feelings that were easier to write than to speak. It worked... but it did much more than that.

Writing became more than just a means to process and understand my thoughts. It became a passion, hobby, and career that I know only God saw coming. Writing helped me understand myself, who I am, what I believe, and what I want, and my hope is to continuously grow in my love and skills of writing to communicate the most powerful stories and messages to those in dire need of an encouraging word.
