Hi ya, so it's been a bit longer than I meant. And if I'm being honest, it's because while I preach so much about trusting God, and choosing joy, I'm human, and sometimes it's easier said than done. I hit a bit of a valley this past week- just feeling hopeless and dangerously wondering if God could really use all of this for His good and the good of those who love Him. Of course He can, but when everyday is the same, the government just keeps extending quarantine, people continue to die and be newly diagnosed (and I still have no idea what even the summer looks like), it's only human to start to question and feel hopeless.
But if there's one thing I've learned from previous valleys of life, it's that there's more than just a light at the end of the tunnel, there's something big, unexpected, and beautiful :)
Anyway, even thought President Trump was hoping to have all American families, who want, to be in church on Easter Sunday, that wasn't the case. However, COVID or not, we acknowledged Good Friday and Easter Sunday just the same. On Easter, we even dressed in our usual nice Sunday attire, gathered around the kitchen table where the livestream was, and listened to our Easter Sunday sermon.
On Friday, we went about our usual day of work/school work, and at night I was able to Facetime two of my closest friends :) If there's any advice I can give to someone who is feeling hopeless during this time, it's to one, cling to God, read His word and learn everything you possibly can about Him. Two, make talking to your friends and family a priority- and if you can see their faces that's even better. My friends and I ended up talking for over 2 hours and it was everything my soul needed.
If you're looking for any book recommendations, I just finished Anxious for Nothing by Max Lucado. God couldn't have had me read it at a better time. It confirmed what we already know, that there isn't anything too big for our God to handle. He turns poor situations into something beautiful for those who love Him, and He holds the whole world in His hands. So while we may look to our governmental leaders for answers they don't have, don't look to them, look to God. Because He's ultimately in control anyway.
