It's crazy how your body can get used to a routine so quickly. Everyday my dad goes to work, my mom, sister, and I wake up early to make coffee, read our Bibles, go on a walk, and start the day in our designated spots (my mom's is the living room chair, my sister's is the kitchen table, and mine is in my room). We get our work done, and then start a personal/recreational project. It's been 3 weeks in this new routine and, honestly, it oddly feels normal that no stores (besides grocery stores), restaurants or public places are open...
Without knowing when this will be over, everyday provides a creative challenge- what am I going to do today? Here are some of the things my friends and I have tried :)
1. Clean your room (or a room on the house you've been avoiding) and I mean, CLEAN it!
2. Re-arrange your room
3. Write a book, blog, story, journal etc.
4. Read that book you've always wanted to but never felt like you had the time
5. Draw, paint, take pictures (I've taken a lot of pictures)
6. FaceTime friends/family
7. Make a presentation about something you're passionate about and present it (yes I know people who have done this, and enjoyed it)
8. Research recipes for things to make with the food you have in your house
9. Go on a walk around your neighborhood or in the forest (yes, that is still allowed)
10. Write letters (who doesn't enjoy receiving a good old fashion letter?)
Of course there is also the obvious, starting a new show or binge watching a show from beginning to end, but I challenge you to try and stay as much as you can off of screens. Our world feels almost 100% online and it's so nice to be able to unplug and be present in the place I'm in with the people who are right in front of me- my family.
I confidently believe God is doing something monumental here, and when it's revealed, it's going to take our breathes away. Be encouraged, friends! We're going to get through this :)
